Witchford Amateur Dramatics Society is putting on a production of award-winning American comedy 5 Lesbians Eating A Quiche.

The unique production is taking place in Witchford Village Hall on April 24 and 25.

Director Keith Gallois said: “The play is set in 1956 small-town America at the time of the cold war and five ‘widows’ are hosting a meeting of fellow ladies at an annual meeting of their society. Over the next hour, the five larger than life characters take the audience through a unique adventure and some hysterically amazing revelations.

“The play does touch on 1950s social attitudes towards sexuality, as well as cold war fears, but the emphasis of the show is very much on leaving the audience on the floor in fits of laughter.”

The production is split into two, the first begins at 7.30pm and the second at 9.15pm. For admission of £7, the audience can attend one or both performances on the same evening.

Mr Gallois said: “We are finding so far that every ticket holder is intending to come for both and make a real evening of it. Apart from seeing two strong and hilarious shows, they will, hopefully, also be amazed at how the same script can be performed in two very different ways.”

Tickets can be bought online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/wadsquiche or from Witchford Post Office and Burrows Bookshop, in Ely.

There is no age restriction on the play, but parents are advised that there are moments of comic intimacy.
