Huntingdon Racecourse offering free entry to its Community Family Fun Day, taking place in March.
The Cambridgeshire track will be giving complimentary access to people who register online for the event, which is being held on Sunday, March 1.
St David’s Day is the opening family day of the year at the racecourse and the fixture has historically attracted up to 2,000 spectators.
This year the racecourse is aiming for many thousands more spectators who can take up the free tickets.
As well as the horse races, there will be behind-the-scenes tours, face painting, bouncy castles and a treasure hunt with great prizes.
Four tickets (including tickets for children) can be claimed by each person who registers. Registration is available at http://huntingdon.thejockeyclub.co.uk.
The racecourse’s capacity is 8,000 people and registration closes on Monday, February 23.
Nadia Gollings, general manager of Huntingdon Racecourse, said: “While Huntingdon Racecourse is primarily a horse racing venue, it is also a core part of the community and so we are delighted to give free admission to people to enjoy some fantastic racing as well as have a great family day out.
“This is a thank you to the thousands of local people who support us every year. It also offers an opportunity for those who have not been racing before to try out a day at the races free of charge.”
On March 1, racing gets under way at 2pm, with gates opening from noon. There are seven races – four over hurdles, two over steeple chase fences and one flat race for jumps horses.
