A writers day and a Shakespearean dinner will help raise money for improvements at a church in Witchford.

The events are to help St Andrew’s Church put a toilet and refreshment facilities into the building.

The writers day is on Saturday March 24 from 10am to 3pm in the church hall with a series of talks, mini-workshops and networking about writing. The results of the short story competition will be announced at the end.

There will be free refreshments and it is free to attend, although donations will be requested.

A spoken word dinner is on Thursday April 19 which is close to Shakespeare’s birthday.

The dinner is in honour of Shakespeare and is a chance to recite favourite passages, listen to others and join in general chat about the bard.

Rosemary Westwell said: “Do you have a favourite poem to recite? Would you like to practise your speaking skills to a new audience? Would you like to read to us your favourite excerpt from Shakespeare’s works.

“Or just come to be entertained after a sumptuous two-course meal and coffee.”

Tickets are a minimum of £12, £10 concessions. Email rjwestwell@hotmail.com.
