Archant

Los Gitanos is made up of founder and grandfather Graham Austin who has played with his son Matthew since 1979 and has brought grandsons Joshua, 14 and James, 13, on board for the release of the new album.

THERE can be few musical styles that stir the passion like traditional gypsy Flamenco music, but most of us would be hard-pushed to strum a guitar, let alone play with the virtuoso skill needed for Flamenco. So it’s more than surprising that here in Cambridgeshire three generations of the same family have established an international reputation in the field.

Based in Ely, Los Gitanos is made up of founder and grandfather Graham Austin who has played with his son Matthew since 1979 and has brought grandsons Joshua, 14 and James, 13, on board for the release of the new album. Their outstanding abilities with flamenco guitar leave audiences in awe and included in their list of impressive engagements is performing at a private party held by Cate Blanchett which was attended by Geoffrey Rush and Clive Owen. The new album is available from Ely Cathedral shop, Burrows Bookshop and Fenland Music, priced £10. The group will also be performing at Ely Cathedral on September 8 in aid of the Ely Cathedral Choir Tour Fund.
