The Umbrella Big Band

A ballroom dance featuring music from the Umbrella Big Band takes place at Hiam Sports and Social Club later this month.

The group will be performing the hits of Duke Ellington, Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, Joe Loss and more when they come to Hiam, on October 18, from 8pm.

A spokesman for Hiam, in Putney Hill Road, said: “Dance or listen to the wonderful sound of the Umbrella Big Band playing great music from the 1920s through to the present day.

“The saxophone, trumpets, trombones, rhythm section and singers of the band give you the best from the famous bands of the past.”

The evening will also feature a raffle and refreshments will be available throughout. Tickets cost £9 for members and £11 for non-members and are available from 01223 357642. You can also e-mail ballroom@hiam.org.uk

Tickers, subject to availability, will also be sold on the door.
