Viva Theatre Company will be breaking new ground next month when members take to the stage for its latest production Acorn Antiques: The Musical!

The Soham-based theatre group’s talented cast will be getting to grips with comedian Victoria Wood’s West End theatre production.

Acorn Antiques: The Musical! is about an antiques dealer and is based on the television series, which starred Ms Wood.

It made its debut in the West End in 2005 and starred Julie Walters. It went on to win an Olivier Award.

Earlier this month, the cast was visited by West End actress and original Acorn Antiques cast member Lisa Peace.

Lisa played the leading role of Miss Berta in the UK touring production of Acorn Antiques. She is also a director and acting coach.

She put the cast through their paces and gave them tips on how to get the most out of the show.

Kerry Hibbert, who is playing Mimi in Viva’s show, said: “Having a workshop with someone who has such an extensive insight into the business and the show was so interesting.

“The tips and techniques she spoke about were really helpful for developing my character and helping us to work together as a team.

“It was an invaluable experience.”

Acorn Antiques: the Musical! is being performed from November 6-8 at The Brook, Soham, from 7pm. Tickets cost £10, £8 concessions, and are now available at the Viva box office on 01353 722228 or online at wegottickets.com
