Soham Comrades Brass Band will be playing at the town’s Cherry Tree pub on Fordham Road from 7pm on Sunday (August 16).

This will be the first concert under the new regime at the Cherry Tree and the first in the refurbished bandstand, painted by the band with paint that was funded by the town council.

The tradition of brass band concerts on a Sunday evening was started many years ago by the then landlord “Podge” Loomis and carried on by many of his successors, notably the Theobolds, Ann and Greg.

After a year’s break while the new management settled in, it is hoped that the concerts will again be a regular feature. The attached picture is of the bandstand in its previous, sorry state.
