TV star Celia Imrie is coming to Ely to talk about her debut novel Not Quite Nice, in March.

Celia is best known for her roles in the films Calendar Girls and Nanny McPhee and for television roles in After You’ve Gone, A Dark Adapted Eye and Acorn Antiques. She has also recently appeared in her own cabaret/revue show Laughing Matters.

Her book, Not Quite Nice, explores the story of 59-year-old Theresa, who swaps her Highgate townhouse for a flat in the French Mediterranean seaside town of Bellevue-sur-Mer, near Nice.

The story features a host of eccentric characters and the charming Brian, who catches Theresa’s eye. Not Quite Nice is a witty story of secrets, friendship and the lesson that it is never too late for a new beginning.

Celia will appear at St Mary’s Church, in St Mary’s Street, on March 17 to talk about the book. Doors open at 7.10pm and the event starts at 7.30pm. Tickets to the event are £6, redeemable against the price of the book, and are available by calling 01353 645005.
