The Hackney Colliery Band will open their new tour with a gig at the Key Theatre in Peterborough on Friday, October 28.
Described as “reinventing the brass-band format for the 21st century”, their latest album, ‘Sharpener’ - a tour de force of trumpets, trombones, saxes, sousaphone, marching percussion and electronics - was released in July.
Formed in 2008 out of a desire to play music that appealed to the feet as much as to the ears, the band’s army of supporters include Lauren Laverne, Gilles Peterson, Craig Charles, Huey Morgan, Jamie Cullum and Rob Da Bank.
Tickets; £18 (including booking fee), available from www.vivacity-peterborough.com/whatson/theatre/hackney-colliery-band/ or by calling 01733 207239.
Starts 7.30pm.
