‘Frisky, innovative and heartfelt’ all-male production H.M.S Pinafore comes to the Cambridge Arts Theatre next week.

Set in the hold of a Second World War battleship, the cast of 16 skilfully play both burly sailors, in the working underbelly of the vessel, and their lady visitors.

Inspired by director Sasha Regan’s experiences of performing Gilbert and Sullivan at a single-sex school, the production plays on the humour that can emerge from these gender changes.

As part of an extensive UK tour, the show runs from Wednesday 20 to Saturday 23 April for a number of 2.30pm and 7.45pm performances.

Tickets; £18 to £28 (including a £3 per-ticket booking fee) can be purchased by calling the box office on 01223 503333 or from www.cambridgeartstheatre.com
