FORMER Ely School Boy Misses Out on Britain’s Got Talent

“It was brilliant to get such a fantastic response from the judges and from the audience,” said George, a former Ely Cathedral chorister.”

IT was so near, but so far for former Ely school pupil, George Eddy last week as he narrowly missed out on a spot in the grand final of Britain’s Got Talent.

George was one of 15 Oxford University students who wowed the judges with unique a capella renditions of Jump by the Pointer Sisters and What a Feeling by Irene Cara.

Judge David Hasselhoff said the boy’s performance was “fun and positive” while Michael McIntyre labelled the performance “fit for the Queen.”

Unfortunately for George and his Out of the Blue band mates however, they were pipped to a spot in the final by Scottish soloist Jai McDowall and dancing granddad Steven Hall.

George, who attended King’s School, made it through to Thursday’s semi final after crowd-pleasing renditions of Lady Gaga’s Poker Face with George singing the solo, and Justin Timberlake’s SexyBack, all in a Capella style.

The talented group study a range of subjects including classics, chemistry and maths at Oxford and Oxford Brookes universities.
