Ely Cathedral’s popular series of free summer organ recitals welcomes rising star on Sunday, August 17.

American virtuoso, Nathan Laube, 25, has been wowing audiences all over the world with his technical mastery and exciting programme choices, and his playing has been described as “gripping” and “visionary”.

“Nathan has a packed schedule and I was thrilled when I discovered that he was available to come to Ely,” said Ely Cathedral’s assistant organist, Edmund Aldhouse. “Ely’s organ is one of the most exciting and colourful anywhere in the UK and we’re looking forward to hearing such a talented player show it off.”

Nathan Laube’s recital at Ely is part of a European concert schedule which also includes visits to Truro Cathedral and Southwell Minster in the UK and concerts in France and Germany. His programme includes music by Widor, Mendelssohn and Saint-Saëns, concluding with Duruflé’s virtuosic Suite for organ. Away from his live performances, Nathan is Assistant Professor of Organ at the prestigious Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.

The concert is part of a weekly series which runs every Sunday at 5.15pm until September 7. Admission is free. More details including full programmes can be found at www.elycathedral.org or by calling 01353 660349 and on Nathan’s Laube’s website www.nathanlaube.com.
