A C Grayling, one of Britain’s most eminent and prolific contemporary philosophers, will be discussing his new book Friendship at Ely College on Wednesday November 27.
Grayling examines the nature of the bond of friendship, and tracks its history in unique relationships formed through the ages. He gives an acute insight into our understanding of friendship: not just what it means, but the ethical role it plays, how we experience it, how we use it, and our duty within it.
The event is organised by Ely bookshop Topping and Company, and a spokesman said: “Drawing on years of experience and his natural ability to present, this will certainly be an exciting and insightful evening that will leave you thinking. Grayling’s events are always popular highlights on our calendar.”
Admission costs £7 if booked ahead, £8 on the door, and £4 for students, redeemable against the cost of the book. Doors open at 7.10pm for a 7.30pm start. To book, visit the shop or call 01353 645005.
