Lady Gray at Littleport Leisure Centre

IT’S pretty clear straight away that the crowd, roughly 40 in number, are all here for them. The Soham quartet have amassed a large following locally with a dark, menacing sound.

“This one’s a little bit slower, a little bit darker,” promises frontman Josh Robins before Indulgence - the opener from the band’s debut EP. It’s what you’d expect after hearing Hate (the band’s debut single) a slowly building, bubbling track laced with a dark theme.

Lady Gray slip in a pitch-perfect cover of the White Stripes Seven Nation Army, then other songs from the EP and a new song Molotov Misfire. Slightly different from previous material Lady Gray are starting to explore their sonic territory and push the boundaries of their sound.

Early song Lady Laziness is the only song that doesn’t quite measure up, and there’s a couple of mistakes but Lady Gray are a new and exciting band - with plenty of potential and time to fulfil it.

However when Hate finally comes around and sends the crowd into hysteria it’s pretty obvious how promising Lady Gray are.

New Band Of The Week

FIDLAR

LA’s FIDLAR are a bratty, fast-paced surf-punk band. Their live shows are hectic, somewhat repesentative of the band they are. Already a big hit stateside it can’t be long before they come to the UK so keep your eyes peeled for those elusive dates.

Gig Of The Week
