Ely musicians and members of the Green Party have organised a concert to raise funds for Wood Green, The Animals Charity.

The gig will take place on Friday, August 28, at Bar 62 in Newnham Street. Doors open at 7pm with the first act on stage at 7.30pm.

The line-up includes local musicians Vidmante Puidokaite, Crooked Caeser, The Sideshow and Just William and the Outlaws.

A host of independent retailers have also pledged their support by donating raffle prizes. They include a meal for two at The Prince Albert, a £25 gift voucher for James Menswear and an Ely Cathedral tower tour.

All profits will be donated to Wood Green, The Animals Charity to contribute towards their work caring for animals.

Mr Law, the organiser of the event and a Green Party member, said: “The Green Party has strong policies on promoting good animal welfare and on investing in our local High Street.

“Wood Green, The Animals Charity was therefore a natural choice and it seemed fitting to ask Ely businesses for their support too. We are overwhelmed by their generosity.”

It is hoped the concert will raise £250.
