Ely’s Campaign Amateur Theatre is celebrating its forthcoming 50th birthday with the family favourite pantomime Cinderella.

Following the huge success of their production of Aladdin last year, which performed to sell-out audiences, CAT is set to produce yet another successful show in the heart of Ely.

This year the company is performing its pantomime at Ely Community College instead of their normal Maltings venue.

With direction from Becky Green and musical direction from Maria McElroy, this year’s rags to riches show, written by Richard Gauntlett, will provide a vibrant mix of traditional fairy tale and popular culture. Colourful costumes, toe-tapping tunes and the obligatory slapstick humour , CAT’s production of Cinderella will kick start the Christmas season with a bang!

Cinderella is played by Shelley Martin, Buttons is played by Nadia Saif, James Crussell is the prince, and Dandini is played by Anastasia Barnes.

The show is held from Thursday December 12 to Saturday December 14 at Needham’s Hall, Ely Community College. There are shows at 7.30pm each evening, and a matinee on Saturday at 2.30pm.

Tickets cost £8 for adults and £5 for children, and are available from Burrows Bookshop in Ely, 01353 669759, or online at: www.cately.ticketsource.co.uk

* CAT will be 50 years old in 2015, and next year the company is planning to stage a new show written by local man Peter Crussell, which will premier in the spring.
