Cambridge Voices is back performing in Ely Cathedral’s Lady Chapel on Bank Holiday Monday.

The concert, promoted by ADeC, is now an annual fixture in the cathedral’s calendar and this year presents War & Peace.

Caroline Cawley, marketing manager for ADeC, said: “We felt it fitting to mark the centenary of outbreak of the First World War with a sumptuous and revelatory concert, given by the celebrated Cambridge Voices in Ely’s stunning Lady Chapel. “With the 40-voice choir surrounding the audience on three sides, they will perform Rachmaninov’s candlelit Vespers, with stirring movements from Holst’s Planets, De Massini’s heart-rending re-enactment of the Christmas Day Truce, The Flanders Carol leading into Ravel’s tender Le Tombeau de Couperin. Finally, peace and reconciliation are restored with Fauré’ life-affirming and heavenly Requiem.”

The choir will be accompanied by the Orchestra of the Age of Reason, and conducted, as always, by their joint founder and director, Ian de Massini, himself a concert-pianist.

Premium tickets have already sold out for this celebration event, which starts at 7.30pm, but standard and rear block tickets are still available for £21 and £16.

Online tickets are available from the ADeC box office www.adec.org.uk,
