ALTHOUGH July is a long way off plans for the 26th Ely Folk Festival are well advanced. This year, the line-up reflects the diversity of modern folk music and includes some of the greatest celtic music bands around with Dervish from Ireland, Shooglenify from Scotland and The Men They Couldn’t Hang; young vibrant bands like 3 Daft Monkeys and ahab; and blues/Americana acts Brooks Williams Band and Dana and Susan Robinson.

Ely Folk Festival is now one of the best music festivals in the country and has featured in the Sunday Times list of Top 100 Festivals for the last two years. Offering great value for money, in addition to seeing top music acts, there’s also children’s entertainment with Jan and her Van and kids events on the festival site, song and music workshops, a real ale bar and Morris dancing – all adding up to a great day out for the family. This year the festival is again running the annual Band Competition and the Local Bands Showcase to tap into the great musical talent around East Anglia.
