SUTTON had the misfortune to come up against a rampant Witchford team. Seven goals in each half gave Witchford a handsome victory. Sam Rasdall scored four, while Billy Carter, Bendict Squires and Caen Morris all grabbed a brace.

There were further goals for Cameron James, Harry Spencer, Jamie Woor and Jack Halls.

Witchford's man of the match was Carter.

Under-15 Division A

Littleport Town 0

Huntingdon Rowdies 2

LITTLEPORT restarted their league fixtures with a tough match against second-placed Huntingdon.

The early phases of the play saw the home side conceding possession too easily, and thus spending too much time in defence.

After the break, both teams strove to establish an immediate breakthrough. Littleport saw a fierce shot blocked by the keeper and a header go the wrong side of the post, while Huntingdon were frustrated by Rob Wilson's excellent save from a strong close-range shot.

Two lapses were to cost Littleport dear as Rowdies eventually won 2-0.

PLANTATION took the lead through a penalty after 12 minutes, awarded for a handball in the box.

In the second half Plantation were the better side and they scored two goals after only five minutes. The home team added a further goal to take the final score to 4-0.

Ely's overall poor performance was capped when they missed a penalty with only a few minutes remaining.

this local derby had a closely-fought first half.

Witchford went in at half time 1-0 up. Seconds into the second half, Sutton lost concentration and conceeded a second goal. Sutton fought on hard to get back into the game, but conceeded a third.

The home team kept up the fight and scored a consolation goal. Man of the match was Liam South.

Ely Crusaders 2 Priory Parkside B 1

BOTH sides were evenly matched for the first half of a game which was end to end.

Ely put the pressure on during the second half and Ashley Hammersley took control of a good cross from the left to put the ball in the back of the net. It wasn't long before Cameron Robb put the home team two ahead.

Priory replied immediately with a breakaway consolation goal.

Man of the match for Ely was Cameron Robb.

Under-10 Division E

Haddenham Rovers Colts A 9 Ely Crusaders B 2

HADDENHAM began the new year with a bang.

The effervescent James Beary scored four of the first five goals with Matthew Morton bagging a brace and Oliver Holden adding a seventh.

The was even time for Haddenham's keeper Richard Padmore to crash a penalty againt the Ely crossbar. Morton completed his hat-trick and Holden scored his second and Rovers' ninth before Ely scored two well-deserved consolation goals.

Witchford Colts 6

Burwell Tigers 1

WITCHFORD made a quick start with a goal in the first minute from Lewis Woollard.

Ryan Bowles got the second after 10 minutes. Burwell came back with a goal.

In the second half Witchford kept up the pressure and were rewarded with a second goal from Bowles. Jamie Loades scored and Jake Goodchild grabbed his first brace for the club.

Soham Utd 6 Isleham Utd 0

SOHAM'S Nathan Brooks made an excellent run from half way to bury the ball in the net.

Soham continued with some great attacking football, being rewarded with a goal from Callum Bush and two from Paul Wallis before the break.

Soham increased their tally with goals from Wallis and another excellent effort from man of the match Brooks.

Newmarket 3 Littleport Town 2

GOALS from Colt Harvey and Ryan Bamber were not enough for 'Port in this match, as a defensive lapse allowed Newmarket the victory.

Shane Moore had a fine game in goal after a lengthy spell out with injury.

Under-Nine Division E

Soham Town Colts Black 4

Ely City 0

BOTH teams started brightly and created chances but Ely defended well and nearly went ahead with a shot just wide.

The score remained goalless until Jordan Turpin slotted the ball into the net to make it 1-0.

Travis Isaacson made it 2-0.

After some superb work by Isaacson, Turpin scored his second, and seconds later he completed his hat-trick with a shot in off the post.

Colts: Matthew Fretwell, Samuel Hewitt, Kieran Fuller, Matthew Hewitt, Shannon Froggatt, Travis Isaacson, Kyle Allgood, Jordan Turpin.

Ely Crusaders A 3

ELY'S captain, Jordan Rowsel, coolly chipped the ball up and volleyed it in from close range to give Ely the lead.

Ely's hard work soon paying off when Liam Walker set-up Jonathan Humphry to smash it in from just over the half way line. Walker then secured the points.

Division F

Sutton Rangers 1 Ely Crusaders B 10

ELY got into their stride right from the kick off when Dominic Hunt received the ball from Athi Ambi and beat the keeper Soon after the same combination provided Hunt with his second goal. He then turned provider with Tom Walker on the end of his cross.

In the second period Charlie Root won the ball from a goal kick and beat the goalkeeper. Root then took a corner, which Will Stephens converted for his first goal of the season. Root then got his second following good work from Conor Logan.

In the third period Stephens fed the ball to Walker who dispatched a fierce shot. Sutton however reminded Ely that they hadn't given up and were rewarded for their persistence with a goal. Ely continued to play good football and Jamie Simper finished a good passing move with a great left foot finish.

The loudest cheer of the game came in the final period when Ambi scored his first of the season.

Witchford 8 Chatteris 0

WITCHFORD maintained their 100 per cent record with a comfortable win over a hard-working Chatteris team.

The game was made virtually safe after a blistering first 15 minutes when Witchford raced into a 5-0 lead.

Doubles from Spencer Saberton and David Mayle, plus Sam Robbins' first goal for the club, put Witchford in a commanding position.

Further goals from man of the match Robbins, Conor Loker and Alec Hewitt made the game safe.
