Soham Town Rangers manager Steve Fallon was left frustrated after sloppy defending cost his side a share of the points at 10-man Wroxham Town.

Jack Garrod put the hosts ahead after three minutes. With the first half drawing to a close, Simon Swinton got pulled back in the box and went over. The referee gave pointed to the spot and Robbie Nightingale stepped up and slammed the ball in the bottom left corner.

Centre back Michael Sommerfield put the hosts back in front on 59 minutes. A couple of minutes later, Wroxham keeper Elliot Pride was sent off for a foul on Luke Stanley. Nightingale stepped up and slotted home his and Soham’s second penalty of the afternoon.

However, in the 90th minute,a long free-kick was misjudged by the Soham defenders who left Jordan Attree unmarked at the back post to nod in for the winner.

The last gasp loss completed another disappointing week for the Greens, who were knocked out of the FA Cup at Mildenhall Town on Saturday.

The hosts took the lead on nine minutes through Kelvin Enaro, but the Greens responded four minutes later through Ben Sawyer.

On the half hour mark, Luke Parkinson put the hosts back in front, and they extended their lead six minutes later through Luke Catchpole.

On the hour mark, Jordan Baker pulled a goal back for Soham, but Enaro (77) and, from the penalty spot, Dave Cooper (80) sealed the win.

Fallon said: “(Wroxham) was very frustrating. It’s a game we definitely should have won. There were a couple of poor decisions defensively for their winner. The players have held their hands up and you’ve got to move on.

“We changed things around from Mildenhall - we had Luke Stanley back - and we looked more of a threat going forward, although we still have things to work on defensively.

“We had a lot of possession and we should have scored from open play.”

Up next for Soham are two tough Ryman Division North games, at home to Cray Wanderers on Saturday and away at AFC Sudbury on Tuesday night.

Fallon said: “When you look at the end of last season and the beginning of this season, Cray are the form team in the division. It will be a difficult game.

“But we are confident we can continue to improve. We are not down and out. We have confidence in the players.”
