Witchford Colts under 11s experienced another taste of higher level football last weekend.

Ely Standard:

Fresh from their trip to Julius Martin Lane a fortnight ago to watch Soham Town Rangers hit four past Redbridge, the Colts travelled to St Ives Town’s ProEdge Westwood Road ground for their EvoStik Southern League Division One (Central) clash with Petersfield Town.

As well as leading the St Ives players out onto the pitch as mascots, liaison officer Ian Reynolds took the young players for an impromptu training session at half time, before some shooting practise after the full time whistle.

Andrew Harding, manager of the young colts team said: “I’d like to thank both Ian Reynolds and our own Alfie Tate for arranging today’s visit. The boys have had a fantastic afternoon. They take away so much from seeing how football is played at an adult level; particularly the effort that’s put in by the players.”

On the pitch, St Ives romped to a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Ben Seymour-Shove and a brace from Andrew Phillips.
