Wintery weather claims second week of fixtures
SPORTING fixtures across East Cambridgeshire once again fell victim to freezing temperatures at the weekend as widespread frost and ice made pitches unplayable.
SPORTING fixtures across East Cambridgeshire once again fell victim to freezing temperatures at the weekend as widespread frost and ice made pitches unplayable.
The persistent cold snap has seen temperatures remain comfortably below zero, and once more forcing clubs to cancel already re-arranged fixtures.
Alan Alsop’s Ely City were hoping to follow their 6-2 demolition of Histon Reserves with victory at Essex-based Wivenhoe Town on Saturday.
A pitch inspection as early as Friday determined otherwise, however, and the Robins will hope the weather improves for Saturday when they host high-flyers Debenham LC.

Soham Town Rangers, meanwhile, were looking for their first league win in four at Burnham but they also fell foul of the weather, with the pitch unplayable.
