ELY 3 came away from Mills and Reeve with their highest score of the season so far as they picked up a gargantuan 46-14 win.

The game, although somewhat scrappy, was dominated by Ely from the start with Mills and Reeve struggling to keep up.

Ely scored goals on a regular basis with attackers Karen Carter and Jo Hayward bringing the ball down the court and feeding in to the circle where Anita Reidy and Rachel Starling rarely missed the opportunity to score.

The impressive defending trio of Jo Elkington, Kathryn Buck and guest player Philli Fuggle continually held the Mills and Reeve attack at bay and ultimately provided the platform for the win.

ELY 2 meanwhile, picked up their first ever league win over the formidable B52 team as they triumphed 31-29.

The match was tense from start to finish but Ely managed to maintain a narrow advantage through every quarter with either a one or two goal lead.

Conditions were difficult as the rain started to fall and the ball and court became slippery, but Ely battled well and never look likely to fall behind.

Sue Everett and Debbie Knott shone in attack as they were consistently able to feed the ball into the circle, enabling Janice Quarrier and Sally Shipley to score the all important goals for the visitors.

The defence of Alison Crombie, Victoria Cutforth and Celeste Gordon also pulled their weight and proved a resolute unit, forcing the opposition into wayward passes on numerous occasions to help seal the points.
