Badminton It was a successful weekend for Ely Victoria’s Neil Place at the Badminton England Kent Masters Gold tournament.
With his playing partner Daniel Bates, Neil improved significantly on his 2013/14 placing by winning the O35 mens doubles competition.
Having beaten the other three pairs in their group comfortably, the duo faced a final game against first seeds Daniel Plant (Essex) and Phil Troke (Kent). In a nail-biting finale, they clinched their gold medals with a 22-20 win in the third end.
Ely Victoria ply their trade at the Paradise Centre, in Newnham Street.
Elsewhere over the weekend, Cambridgeshire’s Olga Bryant brought home three silver medals after reaching the finals of the O45 ladies singles, 045 ladies doubles and O45 mixed doubles.
