ELY man Steve Cridford has appealed for help in tracking down information on a picture which appeared in the Ely Standard in days of old.
The item is headlined '£53 for charity' and gives details of a one-off charity match between the Ely City team of 1966 - the year England won the World Cup - and a team from city hostelry West End House (pictured).
Ely - aged between 19 and 50 - won the match 6-2. The game was refereed by Vaughn Moll, now manager of Ely Crusaders.
The ex-Ely team featured players such as Norman South, Peter Elsden, Russell Cross and David Pollard, among others.
Steve Parker, Mick Jordan and Mr Cridford's brother Chris are some of the players who turned out for West End House.
INFO: If you know anything about the match, contact Mr Cridford on 01353 666683.
