CCA Junior League

Division Two North A

Ely II v Burwell III

Burwell won by seven runs

VISITORS Burwell struggled in the face of good bowling and Jordan King (22) proved to be the top scorer in a total of 89.

Chris Williams and Richard Yates were next highest scorers with 11 apiece. Ely's bowling figures included M Beeby's 3-23, Ben Storey with 2-29, Mark Deas' 2-6 and Oliver Swan-Taylor's 1-23.

In reply, Ely opener King got off to a good start, making 25, but he did not receive the support he needed from his fellow batsmen, who either were out for nought or single figures until Beeby came in at number nine and scored 24. But it was too little too late as Ely were bowled out for 82 off 28.3 overs.

Burwell's Jordan King devastated Ely's middle order, taking 3-9 in his six over spell. He was supported by Summerskill (2-37), Chris Towriss (2-26) and Richard Yates (1-9).

DESPITE the weather, most Burwell Cricket Club teams completed their fixtures.

In CCA Junior League Division One North, Burwell II met Fordham's second team and ran out winners by 70 runs, scoring 232 all out to Fordham's 162-6.

Burwell's innings was dominated by a fine 91 from Kevin Smith with Mark Estall offering support with 36.

Fordham bowled well with Phil Dean taking 6-58, Gary Palmer 2-38 and young Sean Brighty 1-38.

Fordham never really approached the required rate and top scorers were Nev Bussingham (30), Nick Foulds (46) and Steve Morley (23 not out).

Fordham's County Invitation Cup match at Burwell on Sunday was postponed.

Burwell's first team, playing in the Tucker Gardner Division One, met Ramsey and, after batting first, won the match by 63 runs. Burwell made 162 all out and Ramsey were bowled out for 99.
