Burwell won by seven wickets

SAWSTON batted first and scored 172 runs in the face of some fearsome bowling by Burwell's Merrick Fuller (6-67) and Adam Huckle (3-28).

Fuller took the first five Sawston wickets and the visitors' top scorers were opener Liam Flynn (27) and James Reeves (24).

It took Burwell just 31.2 overs to reach their target. Paul Redfarn was top scorer with 74 not out, followed by Jack O'Keeffe's 38. Sawston's Michael Burns took 2-36.

Fordham I v Cambridge Granta

Fordham won by seven wickets

TIGHT bowling and some excellent fielding guided Fordham to a stunning victory over second placed Cambridge Granta.

Granta lost early wickets and were in deep trouble as the Fordham fielders forced run outs that reduced the visitors to a lowly 69 all out.

There were two wickets hauls for Graham Arnold (2-21), Carl Arnold (2-9) and Jason Harding (2-20).

Fordham's reply began badly, losing three wickets with only 21 runs on the board.

But Chris Rule (35 not out) and Mark Silcock (20 not out) shared an unbroken stand of 49 to take the home side to victory.

Fordham's second team match at Willingham was called off but the third team lost against Newmarket II. Newmarket were bowled out for 118 and Fordham's predominantly young side could only manage 51 in reply.

Hardwick and Shepreth v Ely I

Hardwick and Shepreth won by 17 runs

THIS was a low scoring match and Hardwick and Shepreth's John Allen (20) was the top scorer as they set a score of 97 all out.

Ely's Robin Hammerton produced a brilliant spell of bowling to return 5-34 and he was supported by Mark Abbott's 3-6.

But their good work came to nothing when Ely were bowled out for 80. Andrew Foster and Jonny Wallace both top scored with 14.

Hardwick and Shepreth's Aftab Ahmed finished with 4-23 and Steve Smith took 3-9.

Isleham v Littleport

Littleport won by eight wickets

LITTLEPORT recorded their first win since the opening day of the season with a convincing performance.

Littleport bowler Steve Tuck (4-17) took three wickets in four balls and was the man in form as Isleham were dismissed for 95. The top scoring batsman was Jason Sheldrick (22).

The visiting batsmen never looked in trouble, with Terry Stone (30) and Terry Foster (25 not out) steering Littleport to victory.

Witcham v Fenstanton

Witcham won by 98 runs

WITCHAM made a solid score of 221-6 thanks to good knocks from Nigel Pate (33) and Michael Hook (64), Lawrence (37) and Nigel Pate (33).

Everest was the pick of the Fenstanton bowlers, taking 3-35, with Taylor returning 2-50.

Fenstanton's batsmen found it hard going against Witcham's five-man bowling attack and were skittled out 98 runs short of their target.

Taylor hit 37 and Gifford 32. Each of Witcham's bowlers took two apiece, with best figures from Houghton (2-11) and Phillips (2-14).

Ely II v St Ives II

St Ives won by 65 runs

GOOD scores from the top and bottom of the batting order helped St Ives to 167-8.

Opener Zain Ul-Hassan made 55 and 10th man Colin Gallacher hit 24 not out. Oliver Swan-Taylor was the best of Ely's bowlers, taking 4-35, with Jan Aniskowicz returning 3-35.

Ely's batsmen struggled to just 102 with Ed Aniskowicz top scoring with 22. St Ives' Matthew Dack took 2-1 and Gallacher, returned 2-36.

Burwell III v Coton I

Coton won by 68 runs

COTON'S Chris Cooke hit a fine 52 to help his team to a score of 140 all out.

The visitors' bottom order could not cope with the bowling of Jordan King (4-21) and Chris Towriss but their efforts went unrewarded.

Burwell struggled against a devastating spell from James Curley who took 6-12 and Kevin Driver and Matt Baker were the only two men to reach double figures as Burwell were bowled out for 72.
