AFTER a long break, the Fen Tigers return to action with back-to-back fixtures against the Newport Wasps.

The Wasps have been steadily improving throughout the season and their 54-38 home thrashing of Glasgow shows that they can't be taken lightly.

Their form on the road has also picked up as they took Stoke to a last heat decider before losing 46-43.

When the two sides last met at West Row, Mildenhall ran away with the meeting, winning 52-34, but a resurgent Wasps team will be looking to put that right. Mildenhall will also be without Canadian heat-leader and champion Kyle Legault as he represents his country in the Speedway Grand Prix qualifiers.

Team manager Laurence Rogers will be looking for his side to pile up the points over the two-legged tie. He said: "Newport have produced some impressive results in recent weeks but the loss of skipper Tony Atkin may hit their scoring potential.

"All the Fen Tigers are eligible to take one of Kyle Legault's rides and I am planning on having a number eight on stand-by as well. At Newport I have brought a former Wasp in Sheffield's on-form Aussie, Joel Parsons, as our guest."

He added: "Newport's two newcomers this year, Tom Hedley and Michal Rajkowski, have both settled in to produce some good scores with Hedley getting his first maximum last week.

Mildenhall take on Newport on Saturday (June 23) with parade at 6:45pm and tapes up at 7pm.

FEN Tigers Ltd have announced that Mick Horton, co-promoter, has confirmed that he has sold a substantial stake in the club to the Sharman family.

Father and daughter team Roger and Loretta are local business people and Mildenhall supporters.

Mick said: "This is the right move to allow the club to move forward under the control of its supporters. I am looking forward to continuing as co-promoter and working hard to ensure that Mildenhall has a successful speedway team."

After making a further investment in the club, fellow co-promoter Simon Barton has revealed that he now holds a majority share in the club.

Simon said: "The move from supporter to co-promoter has proved to be one that I have thoroughly enjoyed. This additional investment will allow the club to move forward with confidence."

The club is also looking for its supporters to further invest in the future of the club.

Simon added: "We now have 38 supporters who have invested in the club, anyone interested in joining them should contact me on 07712 195420 or alternatively see me at the stadium on any race day.
