A LATE brace from Simon Warren saw Ely City pick up their third league win in a row as they triumphed 2-0 away at Wivenhoe.

The very epitome of a captain's performance from Warren, ably assisted by the long throws of Ben Lawrence, saw the former net two goals in the last fifteen minutes to ensure that Denis Lightning's side picked up all three points.

The Robins had several good chances to move ahead over the course of the game, with Dale Archer in particular squandering a decent opportunity early on. Ely continued to forge ahead despite the stalemate though, and were rewarded late on through Warren's double.

The win, Ely's fifth in eight games, moves them onto 37 points and into 12th place with just 10 games remaining this season. Ely's next game is away at struggling Wisbech on Tuesday night.
