Sutton 193-7 Milton II 89

Sutton won by 104 runs

MIKE Vincent's century put Sutton well on the way to victory in this match.

Vincent almost carried his bat throughout the innings, getting out to the penultimate ball, but not before he had hit 13 fours in his 105, reaching his ton with a big six.

He put on 80 for the second wicket with Rob Braybrooke, who hit 39, as Sutton eventually finished on 193-7.

Sutton were commanding when their turn came to bowl, and Milton never had any real chance of chasing down their target.

The wickets were shared around, with Glen Campbell the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-9 off six overs. James Nuttall weighed in with two dismissals, while Andy Cobbin, Steve Northrop, Alan Rutterford, Colin Coulson and Braybrooke took a wicket each.

Littleport 202-8 Willingham 93

Littleport won by 104 runs

LITTLEPORT'S awesome batting power came to the fore once again as they crushed Willingham.

Terry Stone hit 73 - including nine fours - and Steve Kimsey weighed in with 42. Andy South was his usual consistent self, hitting 32, as Port racked up 202-8, despite three ducks in their innings.

For Willingham, Darby took five wickets.

More than 200 was always going to be a tough target to chase, and Port soon made their way through the opposition's order.

Scott Connop took three wickets, as did Doug Marsh, to help bowl Willingham out for 93.

Little Downham 71 Milton 62

Little Downham won by nine runs

ON a day dominated by the bowlers, Little Downham won a nail-biting contest by a slim margin.

Downham batted first, and only Ryan Duffield, who hit 16, got into double figures as they collapsed to 71 all out.

Milton had similar difficulties batting on a tricky track, however, and this, allied to a tremendous bowling effort from the home side, helped Downham to a narrow win.

Peter Baker and Robert Palmer took three wickets each, while Chris Lupson bagged a brace, as Downham won by a nine-run margin.

Fen Ditton 157-7 Soham 99

Fen Ditton won by 58 runs

SOHAM lost their first game of the season to Fen Ditton on Saturday.

The two teams played in glorious conditions, however, there was little that was glorious about Soham's performance.

Fen Ditton batted first, with opening bowlers Chris Branch and Keith Metcalfe bowling extremely well.

Metcalfe's first three overs were maidens, with the third being a wicket-maiden.

Both Metcalfe and Branch took a wicket each, but Peter Hinde was Soham's leading wicket-taker.

His three wickets were relatively expensive, however, coming at a cost of 48 runs off seven overs.

David Lunn and Todd Bridgland both managed a wicket each, leaving Fen Ditton with a final score of 157-7.

Soham's reply never really got going, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Metcalfe backed up his bowling performance with a top score of 17.

Chris Branch (16) and Louis Beckett (13) also offered some resistance, but Fen Ditton won by 58 runs.
