ELY Vikings picked up their second league win of the season after overcoming a seasoned Nottingham side 10-7.

Nottingham, who field a number of strong teams throughout the Midlands Korfball League, had an early goal disallowed before Vikings raced into a 3-0 lead. The prolific Loes Versteegh weighing in with a quick-fire double with a further score added by Andy Dunlop.

Nottingham did manage to pull the scores level in the game's middle stages, but captain Laura Matthews scored for Vikings to give them a 4-3 lead going in at half- time.

Nottingham rallied in the second-half and threatened to peg Ely back before Jon Smith pinched a vital goal to hand the Vikings some breathing space.

Ely then capitalised on their ascendancy and second-half substitutes Olly Watts, Hannah Brown and Martin Brown all registered to seal the win, with the final score 10-7 in favour of the Ely club.
