VIKINGS 2 eased past Cambridge City 8-7 in a testing encounter played at the City of Ely Community College.
Typical of much of their season, the Vikings powered out of the traps at the start and swept into a 3-1 lead going into half-time.
City regrouped at the break though, and they came out firing in the second half as they battled their way back into the match. Fortunately for Ely however, their defence battled tirelessly and they held on for the 8-7 win.
Three of Vikings' eight goals came from the penalty spot - two from Alex Seabright and one from Rob Wootton. Alex scored an additional long shot, and there was one goal each from Olly Watts and Allison Brown, while second half substitute Laura Matthews scored two vital goals which sealed the win for the home team.
