ELY Vikings 2 upset title hopefuls Tigers 3 after picking up a battling 11-5 victory.
Making home advantage pay dividends in the opening half, Vikings raced ahead to an 8-3 lead. The second half was a more sedate affair but Ely held firm in defence while also notching up a few more scores to secure the win.
Vikings' Alex Seabright, who recently played for the England U16 academy team, led the way for Ely with four measured long shots. Not to be outdone, Ely's other England U16 player, Olly Watts, scored three long shots of his own. Rob Wootton (2) Allison Brown, and a maiden goal for Jackie Payton all helped to round off an important victory.
