A member of Ely Netball Club has been rewarded for her volunteering work by being nominated for the regional final of a national award.

Coach and club treasurer Victoria Cutforth has been picked as a finalist for the BBC’s Unsung Hero award for her services to sports volunteering.

Victoria was nominated for her efforts at the local club which, in its 13-year history, has gone from having one team to five successful sides across a variety of age groups in the Cambridgeshire and District Netball League. She also plays Goal Attack for the club’s second team.

If successful in the regional final, Victoria will go on to the final round at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year on December 18.
