HADDENHAM Rovers Colts under-sevens got off to a flying start in their first ever game with a superb victory over a much more experienced Stretham team.
Haddenham kept a good shape throughout and soon took control when Joshua Lowe struck a fierce shot into the roof of the net after five minutes.
Rovers then made the score 2-0 when Lowe slammed in his second following good work from William Darlington in midfiled. Kieran Petty scored two excellent breakaway goals to make the score 4-0 after the first quarter.
Stretham were much stronger in the second quarter and but for some superb defending by Matthew Wright, Jake Alsop and Joseph Alsop and some outstanding saves from William Darlington, now playing in goal, would have reduced the deficit. Rovers increased their lead in the third quarter when Kieran Petty rounded off a superb personal perfomance completing a hat-trick to make the score 5-0.
Stretham mever gave up and Matt Beary, Clarlie Tunnel, Nick Threadgold and Ricky Sawyer all competed strongly to prevent Stretham getting back into the game before the visitors scored a well deserved consolation goal late on.
