THE Ely under 11 roller hockey team defied the odds to record a superb win at their first tournament of the new season at Burwell.
The team had only five eligible players for the tournament and were forced to play without any substitutes as well as having to field two debutants.
Expectations were low in for their first game against a vastly experienced Kings Lynn A side but an all round good performance and four goals from Ryan Norton gave Ely a morale boosting 4 - 2 win.
Into the second match against Cambridge the good form continued and held firm for a 4 -3 victory.
In their third match against Cottenham goalkeeper Molly Williams was the hero as Ely scored an impressive 8 -6 win and in their final match against King's Lynn B, the in-form Ely side ran out 6 -3 victors.
Ely are looking for more players at this level and have some come and try sessions booked for November 10, 14 and 17, see www.elyrhc.co.uk for more details
