TYLER Goodjohn smashed his way to victory in his first fight of the season against Four Nations schoolboy champion G McCorry in Bedford.

The Haddenham boxer dominated the fight against his highly-rated opponent, dealing comfortably with McCorry's aggressive style and outclassing him in every way.

McCorry was given a standing count in the second round after a punishing blow knocked out his gum-shield.

Goodjohn, who was runner-up in the Golden Gloves Championship last season, went on to deliver punishing blows to the body and win the contest by a clear unanimous decision.

Coach Mick Sawyer said: "I'm aiming to get Tyler ready for the London Olympics in 2012. He'll be 21 by that time and I really believe he's that good. He's been working hard on speed and hard punching in training and he's been sparring against some bigger and older boys to give him valuable experience. Tyler's improved from last season, and if he continues his progress I can see him going really far.
