ELY Tiger's lamentable losing run continued on Saturday as they succumbed 23-13 to Fakenham.

Mark Mitzman's men have suffered in recent weeks from a frustrating lack of fortune and so it proved again at the weekend as their tireless endeavour went wholly unrewarded.

Skipper Mitzman said: "The whole squad is so frustrated, we should be having the time of our lives but instead we keep failing to get the results we need.

"Confidence levels are at an all time low and it shows in the game play. We just need to find a win from somewhere and I'm certain that the season will change for the better."

It was clear from the outset that Fakenham were determined to get all or nothing from the game and immediately they put the Tigers under pressure. With Ely desperate to stop the attack an early penalty gave Fakenham the chance to open the scoring.

From the restart again Fakenham attacked and Ely looked disorganised in defence, the mounting pressure affording the Fakenham winger space enough to deftly skip over the line and score.

Despite regrouping in the ensuing minutes, sloppy defence saw Ely concede another penalty and they slipped 11 points behind.

An Ed Fahy try and a penalty for the visitors provided hope of comeback for Ely, but their hope was short-lived as Fakenham broke through the Ely lines once more to register.

The second-half started in much the same vein as the first and following a further penalty kick Fakenham increased their lead to 19-8.

Though the Tigers came back with a second try from Luke Cornwell, the home side held firm and ran over a late try to seal the points.
