Croatian boxer Ivo Gogosevic felt the full force of Tyler ‘Tornado’ Goodjohn on Saturday night, as the boxer from Wentworth produced a dazzling display to bag his first win in the welterweight division.

The 24-year-old was fighting at welterweight for the first time since making the step up from light-welterweight, and the fighter from Wentworth enjoyed every minute of his six-round bout.

He said: “The move up in weight was great, though no draining myself in the week made my life much easier.”

Goodjohn, now fighting out of St Ives Boxing Academy, out-pointed his opponent in his first fight in 11 months, despite coming up against an opponent with a challenging style.

“I felt the fight went well. He [Gogosevic] was a really awkward opponent with a style that I will probably never come across again.

“I didn’t get to show everything I’d worked on in the gym but I won every round and shed the ring rust.”

Goodjohn took on Gogosevic at the York Hall in London, and was accompanied by his loyal band of followers known as the Fen Army.

“The support was amazing as usual,” said Goodjohn.

“I’ve always been blessed with passionate support who would follow me all over the world if called for.

“I love them all and I’ve always said my biggest achievement in boxing is having their respect and loyalty.

“The Fen Army are the reason I’m still going,” he said.

With a first welterweight win under his belt, Goodjohn is now looking to conquer the division in 2016.

He said: “I’m looking to get back to title level as soon as possible. I need to be chucked in the deep end against top opponents.

I’m not interested in building my record up with six round fights; I want to be put in with the big names of the division.”
