72 people are to compete in an eight hour ten-pin bowling marathon.

Twelve teams of six will bowl from midnight until 8am at Strikes, Ely on Saturday, April 21.

All bowlers will be sponsored and the competition will be to raise money to buy a mini bus for the Highfields School, Ely and to donate cash to children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

The Highfields School is dedicated to children with special needs and CLIC Sargent has been the charity of choice for 12-year-old Soham fund-raiser Liam Fairhurst, who has contributed more than £75,000 towards it.

Event co-ordinator Angela Smith said: "Over the last six years we have raised a total of £25,000 for such charities as Breast Cancer Care Make a Wish Foundation and some non-national charities."

A raffle will also take place. To buy raffle tickets and find out about sponsoring bowlers, contact Mrs Smith on 01353 668666.
