AWARD ceremonies for the regions' football teams were in full swing at the weekend with many an outstanding player receiving recognition for a hard season's work.
Although many of the teams from the district were unable to repeat the feats of last year's all conquering season, there were still reasons to be cheerful as many reserve and A teams came to the fore.
Ely City first-team recognised a tough season spent trying to consolidate their place in the Ridgeons Premier following promotion last year, and there were awards too for the A team who secured promotion from BIS Division 1A.
Fordham gave nods to several players who proved instrumental in their battle to remain in the Kershaw Premier and also celebrated the achievements of their reserve team who fought off the threat of relegation.
Soham Town Rangers meanwhile, were celebrating the success of their Under 18 team who shrugged off cup-final defeat to claim the Ridgeons Youth League Title, capping a fine season and signalling an eminently bright future for the club.
