IN division one Ely II picked up some useful points in a 6-4 defeat to Elsworth I with Slawek Pekala and Marcin Kucharski putting in good performances for the home side.

Soham Comrades II with two of their regular players missing fared little better against Gazeley also losing 9-1 with Colin Gannon beating Tom Penn in five sets for their only win. Comrades II without Tony Cominsky also went down 7-3 to Soham with Martin Freeland and Tony Everitt unbeaten for the winners.

Tony Everitt also won three singles for Soham against Impington including coming back from two sets down against Jeff Catlin to narrowly win the third 11-9 and going on to win in five sets. Catlin then won his two remaining singles and with solid performances from Tony Martin and Howard Morley Impington ran out 6-4 winners.

Richard Smart scored his first win for Elsworth III and with two wins each for brothers Tom and Stuart Humphrey they gained a creditable draw against Haddenham II. Haddenham gave a rare outing to Paul Dewey but it was Emile Cole with three wins who was their star turn as the match finished 5-5,
