Archant

Ely Swimming Club won a bumper crop of gold medals at the East Region Open Water Swimming Championships earlier this month.

Julia Yeates scooped gold in both Cambridgeshire and East Region in her age group, while Rose Beckmann won Cambs County Gold with Charlotte Nash and Sarah Hardiment winning County Silvers.

Elaine Hill, the club’s coach, said: “I am very proud of these four girls for representing Ely Swimming Club at a challenging and competitive Open Water.

“To win gold and silver at this level is a great achievement.

“It is a very exciting time for Ely Swimming Club. Our new pool will open next year and we have lots of young swimmers who I can see winning medals in the future.”
