A SUPERLATIVE performance from Soham saw them clinch a comfortable 4-0 win over Beaconsfield SYCOB on Saturday.

In one of their most complete performances this season, the Greens seized control of the game early on and never looked likely to relinquish control as the opposition struggled to keep pace.

The win, Soham's third in a resurgent five-game run, moves them up into 15th place in the Zameretto League Division One ahead of the visit of high-flyers Chesham this weekend.

A lively Soham side set the tone for the match early on as Dubi Ogbonna headed them into a sixth minute lead. A brief rally from the home side kept Soham keeper Ian Pledger on his toes but after weathering the storm, the Greens were soon back in the ascendancy.

Minutes prior to the interval Pledger was once again pressed into action to keep the Greens in front, puling off a fine save from a long-range strike.

The lead was finally doubled a few minutes shy of the hour mark as Ogbonna collected his second after a brief scramble in the home goal. The second goal served to spur Soham on and they had numerous chances in the minutes following their second as Beaconsfield withdrew.

The mounting pressure finally told after 64 minutes as loan-signing Josh Turner delivered a testing ball into the area that was met by Deakan Napier at the far post to make it 3-0.

Substitute Charles Libam wrapped up the win for Soham in the 77 minute as he volleyed home after linking up well with wideman Napier.
