Ely Park Rangers and Triple-S are both through to the quarter finals of the VB Trophies League Cup, but in contrasting circumstances.
Triple-S won 2-1 in their tie against underdogs University Chemical Labs, but Ely's match against Newmarket Albion was called off when the Senior Division side were unable to raise a side.
Rangers were consequently awarded the tie.
In the league Ely Park Rangers Reserves improved their chances of claiming the 2A title as they came from a goal down to win 4-1 at Milton Sunday.
Martin Gray got them back on level terms just before half-time, and Stephen Tuck put Rangers in front immediately after the restart.
Andrew Francis then contributed a scorching 30-yarder to make it 3-1, and Martin Blakeley wrapped things up with the final goal of the match.
In the same section QPR Ely crashed 5-1 at home to Bar Hill Reserves, whilst in Division 4A there were good wins for Wicken Maids Head and AFC Witchford.
Wicken were outstanding in defence as they overcame West End House 3-0, and Michael Ward scored five times for AFC Witchford as they claimed a 9-0 win at Alma Reserves.
Witchford ended a run of three straight defeats with this result, and Ward was joined on the scoresheet by a visiting defender, Michael Emms, Mark Heading and substitute Mark Crowe -with his first ever goal for the club.
