Ely Park Rangers Reserves improved their Division 2A title hopes with a convincing 6-0 win over Chippenham.

Dave Cornwell broke the deadlock, and Martin Blakeley scored either side of the interval to make it 3-0 to Ely.

Andrew Lee then found the net before Blakeley completed his hat-trick, and subsitute Jamie Gayfer wrapped up the points with a sixth goal in the closing stages.

In the same section QPR Ely lost by the odd goal in five at home to Exning United, and the same scoreline saw AFC Witchford surrender the points in their home 4A clash with West End House.

Jamie Linney (2) and Kevin Hills put West End in the driving seat, and those three goals proved sufficient at the hosts could only manage a Michael Ward double during a much-improved second half performance.

Wicken Maids Head were also in 4A action, but they slumped 6-0 in their match at the Grove.

Reigning Senior Division champions Triple-S saw their chances of retaining the title disappear as they went down 2-1 at home to arch rivals Kingston Foresters.

CUP MATCHES

Ely Park Rangers failed in their bid to reach the last four of the Cambs Challenge Cup, going down 2-0 at home to Senior Division opponents Bar Hill.

Rangers had plenty of possession and chances, but failed to make the most of their opportunities on the day.
