SAFFRON WALDEN 10K, SUNDAY

ELY Runner Stephen Howard returned to form after recent injury troubles to be the first veteran, and claim sixth place overall of 348 finishers. Howard finished in an excellent time of 37:28 for this tough and hilly, mixed terrain course.

Conditions were warm and mainly sunny.

ELY Runner Torsten Lytken returned to competitive running by finishing first in the men's 30-39 category, and third overall, in a personal best time of 18:35. The course of undulating roads had a hill in the first mile and a steep climb up to the finish. Lytken also had to contend with 99 per cent humidity as well as blustery gusts of wind.
