ELY'S Stan Nixon is looking to become the best golfing painter and decorator around when he heads to Portugal.

Nixon won the Dulux Decorator Centres fourth annual summer golf tour over 18 holes at the Langdon Hills golf course in Essex last week.

He will go to Portugal to compete in the grand final in September.

Nixon said: "The DDC golf tour is a fantastic opportunity for us to down tools for a day and compete with other painters and decorators from around the UK. This is the first time I entered the competition so never expected to win. On the day I felt really relaxed and played some really good shots. I just hope I can re-create the same form in Portugal."

Dulux Decorator Centres PR and marketing communications manager Beverley Whitehead said: "Every one of the 36 painters and decorators that took part seemed to have a great day. The standard seems to be getting better each year as they all compete for the desired trophy."

The competition is arranged to reward Dulux Decorator Centres customers.
