Dozens of youngsters have tried their hands and baseball, netball, cheerleading and a host of other sports at St James' Church's annual Mega Sports Camps.

This year’s camp, held at Stretham Community Primary School, has seen over 60 local children take part in a variety of sports in the context of Christian values which are taught through interactive songs, films and stories.

The camps have been keeping children active every morning as they enjoy their summer break, and vicar of St James’ Church, Rev Natalie Andrews, says they have been a real success.

“There has been a real buzz throughout the week,” she said.

“It has been wonderful to see children trying sports that they haven’t done before.

“It’s been a super start to the school summer holidays.”

From September, the church will be launching a new family service called ‘Home’ on the third Sunday of each month at 4pm.

The first of the themed services will take place on September 18, with the month’s theme set to be ‘pets.’
