THIS week we launch two more categories for the Ely Standard Sport Awards 2008.
Award Category: School of the Year - sponsored by N & C Glass
A word from our sponsor:
"N & C Glass has links with many schools throughout the county, providing both emergency repair work and ongoing maintenance contracts. We have also trained many school leavers into fully qualified professionals within our industry and we realise how important it is to our young people to have a good broad and balanced education whilst enjoying their school years. It is equally vital that schools value the importance of physical education within their curriculum. To encourage children to achieve their full potential in individual sports and to understand what is involved in being part of a team, including appreciating fair play and good sportsmanship. These are qualities which will equip children to face the challenges of further education and employment or to make a successful career within their chosen sport. The winning school in this category should reflect these aims. We are very excited at N & C Glass to have this opportunity to recognise the best of our sporting schools and award it the title of School of the Year."

4. To build safer and stronger communities by using sport and physical activity to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and to strengthen community cohesion.
5. To meet the needs of children and young people through sport and physical activity.
East Cambridgeshire District Council recognises that sport should be available for everyone. ECDC supports and helped to establish the East Cambs disability sports forum, Disport whose aim is to promote and organise activities for people with disabilities. Over the past 12 months, Disport has organised a number of activities"
